((Cross-posted on the Intergalactic Summit))
My father once told me that nothing has any value until someone works for it. This meant a lot from him, since he’d fought tirelessly as a rebel for a cause in which he believed.
He’s not with us anymore, and he and I differed in our beliefs as to what our future as New Edenites should entail. But he was right in what he said that day, and we should always hold ourselves accountable as we work for a future in which we can have real pride.
We podders have no real personal need for any sort of struggle, with abilities and resources unimaginable to nearly every one of our human brothers and sisters. So we have our dreams of this future, but we don’t always work directly for them.
We work for our own prosperity or for the limited vision of one specific faction.
We hoard information and talk endlessly in the Summit.
We seek to destroy rather than to create.
We kill rather than give birth.
We take the easy route rather than build something new, lasting and productive.
We follow the selfish example of the Jovians, only doling out paltry portions of prosperity and progress.
Wake up to the Dream. Make it happen. It takes no effort to talk and only slightly more to kill. Create something lasting, something that really advances humanity.
Otherwise, all these things we value so highly really have no worth.
