Tribal Republic
Well, I didn’t expect this. The Thukker Tribe joining the Minmatar Republic as an autonomous state.
Looking at the current situation, I don’t suppose the other tribes will be happy to have one that gets to do what it wants when it wants, while they get stuck having to follow Parliament’s decisions. Maybe they’ll all end up wanting autonomy. Minmatars have long preferred our tribal structure, and that has just accelerated since Maleatu Shakor’s ascension last year.
The “Tribal Republic” ideal, then, actually consists of a loose confederation of tribes, bound together for limited common needs such as defense and similar matters. Past theorists have called this sort of a “night watchman state“. While this doesn’t reach the ideal of a stateless society, such a state would provide an excellent proof of concept. Free people, associating on terms that benefit them all, can survive and thrive even in New Eden. We don’t have to give up our independence to power centers that attract the corrupt.
I’ll be keeping my eye on this, since the status quo has a vested interest in preventing this from occurring. They won’t want the world realizing we don’t need them.
