EVE Killboard admin advice requested

So I’ve installed a killboard for my corp, using the EVE-Dev Killboard that seems so popular. However, documentation seems lacking at best, so I’d like to see what tips you killboard admins wouldn’t mind throwing my way.

Specifically, I want to make sure that we pull killmails using the API, integrate the IGB in some way, and lock it down so that only corp members can view and comment on kills.

How much of this still works? Any ideas on other things I should consider? What do you know now about KB administration that you wished you’d known at the beginning?

  • Using this software myself, and thankfully being quite tech-savvy (read: I press buttons and see what they do, occasionally stuff breaks, then I unpress the buttons till it works again), I think I can answer all this for you:

For automated posting, you need the API mod, and AJcron. Unless you have cronjob access with your host, in that case you use the cronjob script that comes with the API mod. Just look them up on the eve-dev forums for all technical info.

For the IGB, there is a module also. Haven't used it myself but I think it comes as default. If not then you might have to look it up on the forums and install it.

Under post permissions and post options you can find the stuff for the last thing you want to do, although I am not sure you can make the viewing totally private. I can't find it at least. The only solution to that I can think off is putting a password on the entire website. But your host might not allow you to do that either. Maybe there is a mod for it as well?

Not sure about the IGB part.

It all works great. I highly recommend pulling the latest and greatest from SVN. Setting up corp feeds and API are also pretty easy. Just poke around the Admin menus and it should be readily apparent.
