Who vetted these questions? Didn’t anyone think, “hmm, drunk Nordic nerds could say anything. Probably let’s avoid the racial questions.”
I mean, I’m glad Soundwave and StevieG distanced right away, and I realize he was just joking. But even the audience (a largely white group of drunk Internet spaceship nerds) laughed uncomfortably.
Hopefully somebody will do a little better job next year of thinking ahead. And hopefully the dev who said that will think, “oops, inner monologue voice!”
