Miniblogs and EVE

'Tilt shift Calgary' by TravichAnyone here use Posterous or Tumblr? I’ve started to consider expanding to use those services for smaller bits that don’t necessarily need a long article of the sort I prefer to write but probably need a bit more than 140 characters. I know at least one EVE blogger who primarily depends on Tumblr, but this site would really just pull together smaller bits of text and other media. So what suggestions might you have on miniblogging or whatever the social media “gurus” call it these days?

Come to think of it, I really should find a way to rationalize my own social media ecosystem in some sense.

I myself use Tumblr along with Wordpress. I must say that Tumblr has some promising features, and has a friendly community.
  • I used to use the Delicious feed, but it's too coarse for me: every link I bookmark with that account gets posted once a day, no matter what. A bit more fine-grained control would really make me happy. And yes, last week I settled on Posterous for a similar project because Tumblr had some key strikes against it (particularly the fact that it does NOT use OAuth for Twitter).

I'll have a post up later today on my Chrome Bits site that will talk a little more about what I want to do, because the scope is expanding like Cartman in a donut shop.
  • I'd say if you want to pull in a variety of media, like videos, quotes, pics, etc, I'd go for Posterous.

If you really just want a tumble log of links, you might just look into some of the feed features of Delicious.com.

Really anything that gives you an browser bookmarking tool. If I'm not mistaken, wordpress even has this. Any reason why you don't want to stick with WP?
