Good run while it lasted

My EVE ‘career’ has come to an end. Arnar/Zulu just administered the execution serum to EVE Online. The body may thrash for a few minutes, but it’s already as good as dead. I don’t feel anger or bitterness, but resignation and sadness.

I have not decided yet what to do with this blog, beyond a few minor posts. But I will certainly be keeping Twitter, just not EVE-exclusive.

    I’ve been gone for a few months now and was going to come back. Hearing the general discontent and seeing you leave has enforced my own decision to leave.

    CCP CEO Hilmar thinks the player response is “_very predictable feedback_”. So CCP purposely put themselves in this situation. That sounds like a company that has decided it doesn’t need all of its current customers.
    The memo says the company is not interested in what the customers say or think, only actions matter. What I hear is a company CEO saying STFU or leave.
    Do I really need a company, who created a game I like to play, to love or even respect me? Off hand I can’t think of another parallel where it matters. So maybe it is me, it is just time to move on.

    Only I don’t seem to be alone.

    I unsubbed both accounts, but since I pay by the year, I have plenty of time to get sucked back in if CCP returns to sanity. I have enjoyed your writing, best of luck!

    I know that we do not chat in-game as much as we did in the past but I thought I would offer some unsolicited advice as I have always enjoyed knowing that you were still in “my” game world.

    My Mi-Maw (that’s a Texas Grandmother for those of you who are not from that fine state) used to say that there was no need to worry about something until it actually happened.  I submit to you that until EVE actually becomes “Pay-to-Win” that there is very little to get upset about at the current time.  If CCP goes that way, I will  
    cancel all three of my accounts
    and follow you to the next game but, until that time, lets just see which way the wind takes us, ok?  I’d hate to lose you and I’m certain that I am not alone in that.
